Getting There
Burj Khalifa is in Downtown Dubai, beside The Dubai Mall and Burj Lake. Because the observation deck entrance is inside the mall, plan your route to the mall rather than to the tower itself.
Dubai Metro
Take the Red Line to Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall station. From the station, an enclosed, air-conditioned walkway with travelators leads to the mall. It is long, so allow plenty of time, particularly with children or if you walk slowly. You will need a Nol card or other accepted payment method for the metro.
Taxi or ride-hailing
Ask to be dropped at The Dubai Mall and choose an entrance close to the observation deck entrance where possible. Traffic around Downtown can be heavy in the evenings, at weekends and during events, so leave a buffer.
Driving
The Dubai Mall has large car parks. Note your parking zone and level, as finding your way back through the mall can take time.
Finding the Observation Deck Entrance
The visitor entrance for the observation decks is on the Lower Ground level of The Dubai Mall. Follow the mall's signs for the observation deck. Do not go to the Armani Hotel, residential or office entrances of the tower, which are separate.
Your booking confirmation states the exact meeting point or entrance for your ticket type. If it differs from the general description here, follow the confirmation.
On the Day of Your Visit
- Arrive early. Give yourself time to reach the entrance and clear security before your slot.
- Show your ticket. Most Tiqets tickets can be shown on a phone. Some may need to be exchanged at a counter; your confirmation explains which.
- Security screening. Bags go through a scanner, similar to an airport. Large bags and some items may not be allowed.
- Exhibition and lift. A short walk through displays about the tower leads to the high-speed lifts.
- On the decks. Explore at your own pace, within any time limits stated for your ticket.
- Exit. The exit route returns you to The Dubai Mall, usually through a souvenir shop.
Plan for roughly one and a half to two hours in total. Premium experiences on Level 148 can take a little longer.
What to Bring (and What to Leave)
Bring
- Your ticket or voucher, on a charged phone
- Photo ID or passport if your ticket requires it
- A light layer: indoor areas are air-conditioned
- A phone or compact camera
Leave behind
- Large luggage and bulky bags
- Tripods and professional equipment, unless permitted
- Food and drinks
- Anything sharp or that could fail security screening
Security rules are set by the operator and may change. Check your ticket conditions.
Weather and Visibility
The decks are indoors and air-conditioned, so the visit runs year-round. What changes is how far you can see. In the hot, humid summer months, haze often softens distant views. Dust can do the same at any time of year when winds pick up. The cooler months, roughly November to March, more often bring crisp, clear days, although early-morning fog occasionally covers the city in winter.
Check the forecast and visibility the day before. If your ticket has flexible cancellation, that gives you room to move the visit if conditions look poor. For timing the light, see our sunset guide.
Accessibility and Families
The route to the main observation levels uses lifts, and The Dubai Mall is built for step-free access. If you use a wheelchair or have other access needs, contact the booking provider before you travel to confirm the arrangements for your specific ticket.
Children are welcome on the main decks with an adult. Age bands for child tickets and any free-entry rules depend on the product, so check the listing. Keep young children close at the windows and on the terrace, and plan around nap times; a busy sunset slot can be tiring for small visitors.
Combine Your Visit with Nearby Sights
- The Dubai Fountain on Burj Lake, with regular evening shows. Watch from the lakeside promenade after your visit.
- The Dubai Mall, with shopping, dining and attractions such as the aquarium.
- Souk Al Bahar and the Downtown boulevard for restaurants with lake views.
