Beat the reflections
Place your lens or phone flat against the glass, or use a rubber lens hood. Dark clothing reflects less.
Golden hour
A visit that starts before sunset lets you see Dubai in daylight, golden light and after dark in one go. Timing matters, and so does booking early. This guide explains both.
Aim for an entry time 30 to 60 minutes before sunset. That leaves time for security and the lift, and gets you to the windows while the light is still warm. Stay on after the sun has set: the twenty minutes or so of dusk, when the city lights switch on against a blue sky, are often the most striking part of the visit.
Sunset in Dubai shifts by almost two hours across the year. Look up the exact time for your travel date with a reliable sunset calculator, then pick the slot that matches. Entry times shown in the ticket listings are local Dubai time (GMT+4).
Sunset entry is usually sold as a peak or prime time ticket at a higher price than off-peak slots. Availability is never guaranteed, especially in the winter season and on public holidays.
| Months | Sunset | Conditions |
|---|---|---|
| November to January | Around 5:30 pm to 5:50 pm | Cooler, often clearer air. Peak tourist season, so sunset slots fill quickly. |
| February to April | Around 6:00 pm to 6:40 pm | Pleasant temperatures. Occasional dust or haze from seasonal winds. |
| May to August | Around 6:40 pm to 7:15 pm | Hot and humid. Haze is common, which can soften colours and distant views. |
| September to October | Around 5:50 pm to 6:35 pm | Still warm. Visibility improves as humidity falls later in the season. |
Photography
Practical advice for better photos through glass and in fading light.
Place your lens or phone flat against the glass, or use a rubber lens hood. Dark clothing reflects less.
The sun sets over the Gulf to the west. For warm light on the city itself, look east and north as well.
Shortly after sunset the sky and city lights balance well. Steady your camera on the window ledge.
Tripods and large equipment may be restricted. Check the listing or operator rules before bringing them.

Good to know
It varies through the year: roughly 5:30 pm in late November and December, and a little after 7 pm in June. Check a sunset calculator for your travel dates, then choose an entry time about 30 to 60 minutes before it.
Sunset slots are commonly classed as peak or prime time, which usually costs more than off-peak entry. The exact price is shown in the live listing for your date.
Weather and visibility are not guaranteed, and haze or dust can soften the view, especially in summer. Refund rules for poor visibility depend on the provider, so read the cancellation terms before booking.
