Why Visit the Burj Khalifa Observation Decks?

At 828 metres, Burj Khalifa has been the world's tallest building since it opened in 2010. Its observation decks are the easiest way to understand how Dubai fits together: the dense towers of Downtown and Business Bay, the ribbon of Sheikh Zayed Road, the coastline curving towards the Palm, and the desert beyond the city edge.

The building itself is part of the experience. The tower rises in a series of setbacks that taper towards a slender spire, and the high-speed lifts take you to the main decks in roughly a minute. Inside, interactive displays explain how the tower was designed and built.

Daytime and evening feel very different

By day you see geography and scale: the street grid, construction sites, the Gulf and, on clear days, the dunes. After dark the city becomes a pattern of lights, and the Dubai Fountain shows play out on the lake below. Neither is better; they simply suit different visitors.

Location in Downtown Dubai

The tower stands in Downtown Dubai, next to The Dubai Mall, Burj Lake and the Dubai Fountain, a short distance from Sheikh Zayed Road.

Visitor entry

Observation deck visitors enter through The Dubai Mall on the Lower Ground level, not through the hotel or residential entrances. Follow the mall signs for the observation deck.

By Dubai Metro

Take the Red Line to Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall station. A long, covered and air-conditioned walkway links the station to the mall. Allow extra time for the walk.

Visiting The Dubai Mall

The mall is large and busy, particularly in the evenings and at weekends. Note the nearest car park or entrance so you can find the deck entrance quickly.
